Fethiye lies on the northwest of the Taurus Mountains, where a fertile valley opens towards a large bay with its numerous small islands.
Previously, the "gullets" served for transportation and fishing at the Mediterranean and the Aegean seas.
Due to its Mediterranean climate, swimming in the sea is possible here even in winter.
